Unemployed veterinary doctors staged demo demanding jobs

Unemployed veterinary doctors demanding their recruitment and opportunities for jobs in centrally sponsored scheme staged a demonstration in front of the director of Animal Husbandry Development department (ARDD) on Monday in Agartala.

Agitated unemployed speaking with media persons said that recently the state government through notification has said that ARDD will introduce mobile veterinary services like other states of the country.

But, as per the notification government will pay the honorarium of Rs. 25, 000 to veterinary doctor, who will be deployed in the mobile unit, whereas other state government are giving Rs. 50, 000 per month as honorarium, which is total violation of a centrally sponsored scheme.

They said that there is no recruitment for veterinary doctors, as hundreds of posts are lying vacant, said agitated doctors. They later submitted a deputation before the special secretary and director of ARDD, Dr K Sasikumar and demanded immediate rectification of the notification issued by the department.

It may be recalled here that recently, the principal secretary of Animal Husbandry department of B S Mishra said that under the ‘Mobile Veterinary unit’  within December 5th, five ambulances will start functioning and rest 8 more ambulances will  arrive in the state at the last part of December.

He said this for the first time, the mobile veterinary unit will start functioning across the state and in the initial stage, the union government has sanctioned Rs. 2.8 crore funds for this project with 90:10 ratios.

Mishra said that all mobile veterinary vehicles will reach at the door step of farmers   through call centre operation  and all ambulances will be equipped with one animal doctor, one assistant and a driver. All these ambulances will have facilities for laboratory tests.
